Father John Misty rightly commands a bit of a cult following.
If you know him, you faithfully worship at the altar of his music. If you don’t know him, allow me to introduce you to one of the most compelling artists of the last decade.
Long before Josh Tillman would adopt the moniker Father John Misty, he had written and recorded several solo acoustic albums as himself. From this he would later go on to join a number of different bands including the Seattle-based indie-folk ensemble, Fleet Foxes. His role as drummer in Fleet Foxes would be the first time I’d hear of him.
In 2012, Tillman moved to Los Angeles and signed with the SubPop label under which he would release his first album, Fear Fun, as Father John Misty.
