The Worst Band Names of All Time

An undoubtedly incomplete list

Band names. When they’re cool, they’re really cool. And when they’re bad, well, sometimes they’re still cool.

But when they go beyond bad, as they often do, they can be flat-out cringeworthy. Yet, for this very reason, they can still be memorable, if nothing else.

I started in the ’60s and worked my way forward, though this list reflects my research in reverse order with the more recent bands listed first because I need to grip your attention. In my opinion, there weren’t that many crappy band names in the latter part of the 20th century, but the 21st century has truly given us a treasure trove of total trash.

I’ve also tried to stick to bands most people have at least heard of, bands who achieved some level of notoriety. As you might imagine, there’s a veritable endless list of terrible band names, but there are so many more you never heard of, likely due in no small part to the lousy names they chose.
