The article "SRV: The Fan Who Would Be King" by Michael Corcoran delves into the incredible life and talent of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Through a blend of historical context, personal anecdotes, and insights into Vaughan's musical journey, the article pays homage to SRV’s enduring legacy.
Being the Stevie Ray aficionado that I am, I thought I’d watched every film clip ever recorded of him burning down the house, but I just came across this video from July 1988 that I’d never seen, recorded at Blues Peer, a music festival held annually in Peer, Belgium. He is always amazing although this particular video suffers from poor quality and the audio doesn’t perfectly sync up in some parts. However, this part in his solo around 3:45 is the perfect example of why Stevie Ray is an absolute legend. After this, check the part around 5:00 when he plays the rest of the song with the guitar behind his back and never misses a note. SRV will always be my personal guitar god.
Lastly, there’s this incredible cover (audio only) of Stevie Ray doing B.B. King’s “You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now” recorded in 1981 at Fitzgerald’s in Houston.
