You're dangerously close to being in "Get Off My Lawn" or "Back In My Day..." territory my friend!! Good thing about remakes at least the original artist is going to get paid regardless of how terrible or fantastic the remake actually is! So Sir Paul & Lady Dolly will make even more money off their songs! The funny thing about "I Will Always Love You", Dolly herself remade a version of it for The Little Whorehouse in Texas movie soundtrack & she took it to #1 for a second time. She remade it again in 1995, as a duet with Vince Gill but that time it only went to #15!
Beyoncé grew up in Houston Texas probably hearing country music a lot, her take on country music isn't that bad. Country music today doesn't sound very much like the country music that I know & love. Give me some George Strait or Garth Brooks or Clint Black or Keith Whitley or Alan Jackson over anybody new.
Chris Stapleton or Kacey Musgraves are a couple of the best ones playing country music now but they are exceptional songwriters too. Beyoncé not known as such but that makes sense considering.
That's the advantage of getting old., we don't have to give a fuck about what people think of our opinions! You already have a low opinion of country music so Beyoncé doing a country album already is at a disadvantage with you. It's not great but I give her a lot of credit for doing one anyhow. Strong women do NOT like to be told they can't do something. The "remake" of Jolene isn't what I think it should be either but Dolly likes it & I guess that's what really counts. Plus she'll be getting some good royalties from it. She'll probably just donate the money to a good cause anyhow!
