Hey everyone, I want to wish everyone a Happy Pride Month! As an LGBTQ+ ally, I celebrate and stand in solidarity with my beautiful friends who are part of that incredible community. This week’s edition is so jam-packed that I’m running up against size limits for this email which may already be too long for some of your email clients to properly render. So, without adding more heft to an already hefty dispatch, let’s just jump right into what’s happening in the world of music. (Hint: it’s a lot!)
Connecting Rufus (also a hero of mine) and the new Ben Folds release - saw their tour on a hot August night at The Fillmore in Denver in 2005 and watched a crowd collectively lose their minds when Rufus sang the hook for Ben Folds’s cover of “Careless Whisper.” A music moment I’ll never forget. Also, Martha Wainwright is wonderful too. Her self-titled debut is one of my all-time fav records.
Ray Charles died way too young. And Chuck Negron, whose name you don't hear every day, is now, gulp, 81 years old! Easy to Be Hard indeed.
